St. Michael FORTRESS

History and heritage

Saint Michael's fortress (Castle) was first mentioned in historical documents in the 11th century as Castrum san Michaels. During the middleAges,it became the source point of the defense fortification system of the city of Sibenik. It owes its name to the 12th-century church of St. Michael, which was located within its walls. The fortress has kept the name of the saint, who became the patron saint of Sibenik early on. As a key defensive position in the region, it was destroyed and rebuilt several times throughout history and finally preserved in the form of an irregular rectangle. St. Michael's fortress is a recognizable symbol of the city of Sibenik, and as such, along with the entire fortification system of the city, has a cultural and historical significance and represents an important part of the architectural heritage of Dalmatia and Croatia.

Fort St. Michael has 1,077 seats and it is one of the most prestigious stages in the region, where various cultural, musical and theatrical events take place, and thus contributes to the image of the Republic of Croatia, and especially the image of the city of Sibenik as a destination of cultural tourism.

Castrum coffee&more - side "B"

The location of the Castrum coffee & more bar, also known as side "B", is suitable for organizing various events in addition to its standard coffee & more bar format. It is suitable for day events due to the structure of the auditorium, which is sheltered from the sun and thus creates a natural shade in the sweltering summer days, as well as for the organization of evening events or outdoor concerts.
